I immigrated to Canada in 2001, very financially well off with investments and a condo fully paid. I had excellent credit history in my origin country, but it wasn’t transferred to Canada. A Canadian family member co-signed for my home phone ($25/month!) and when I wanted to get a cellphone, similar monthly amount, I couldn’t get it for lack of credit history. Luckily, the manager at the Bell store that I visited was able to offer me a 6 months plan to be prepaid, and after that I could automatically switch to a monthly plan. This was not a morgage just a monthly phone/cellphone plan!

For years I have been a big follower of Money Sense and I tell my friends that a large part of my retirement was as a result
of following tips and advice from Money Sense.

I have to say however, I dearly miss the annual review of stocks that Money Sense used to produce. I attribute a large percentage of my retirement fund to the knowledge I gained and stocks I was alerted to from that annual review. It would be great to get those annual top picks again.

All the best, thank you for your work,

Michael Walz

The more money the government spends and prints the higher inflation will be. In the last 9 years our spending power has been reduced by 20%. Rampant immigration has also put a lot of pressure on the cost of goods and services. We really need to get our heads out of the sand.

How easy is making $4000 a month in any of these cities? That, more than the cost itself, may tell more than just the actual cost of living. If only 5% of your population can make $4k/month and to be comfortable you need that much, well then, that might be a problem!
